Organizations defending the rights of refugees demanded to stop the deportation of refugees to Greece
Aryan Community News Agency – Some refugee rights organizations are asking the German government to send refugees back to Greece. Recently, a group of those who were granted protection in Greece were deported from Germany.
The refugee support organization known as “Peru Ezul” and the Bavarian Refugee Council have strongly criticized the deportation of refugees to Greece.
These two human rights defenders have said in a joint statement that the German Federal Office for Migration and Asylum (BAMF) downplays the poor situation of people in need of protection in Greece.
These two organizations have published this announcement after the deportation of four refugees to Greece who were citizens of Yemen, Syria and Palestine.
They have stated that the expulsion could be a “dangerous and worn-out experiment” that would send even more people back to misery.
In a part of this announcement, it is stated that the German Federal Migration and Asylum Office, by deporting this group, ignores the rulings of the German Supreme Administrative Courts in 2021.
These courts had decided that people who are eligible for protection should not be sent back to Greece because their basic needs such as a place to sleep, food, soap, etc. are not met there. This includes single, healthy and able to work people.
It is said that one of the deportees was already living in Greece and had initially received Greek support, especially social benefits.
Based on information, this support was stopped after some time and this man entered Germany in 2020.
The German Federal Office for Migration and Asylum has said that the reason for deporting these people is that the living conditions for people who have obtained the right to protection in Greece have improved compared to previous years. But aid organizations complain that the claim is “scandalous and untrue”.
