Arrest of 141 Afghan refugees by Bulgarian police
According to the news agency of the Aryan community, Bulgarian authorities say that they have arrested 141 illegal immigrants who tried to enter the country. Apparently, all these immigrants were Afghans.
According to the authorities, a group of 88 Afghan immigrants were arrested when they were traveling in a bus with the number of North Macedonia. Police stopped the bus in the port city of Burgas along the Black Sea.
The 60-year-old driver of Bes, who is a citizen of North Macedonia, has been accused of smuggling immigrants.
Another group of 53 Afghan migrants were also arrested while they were waiting to be transferred to a forest area near Burgas.
Bulgarian police announced on August 28 that they will increase security measures on the eastern border with Turkey due to the increase in the number of illegal immigrants.
Most immigrants, including Afghans, try to reach Europe through Bulgaria and the Balkan road.
According to published statistics, the number of Afghans who are illegally present in EU member states has increased by 55% compared to 2020. Many Afghans are also stranded in neighboring countries, Pakistan or Iran.
