Arrest of Fateme Sepehari, civil activist living in Mashhad
Ariyai Community News Agency – Today, Wednesday, September 30, 1401, Fatemeh Sepehri was arrested by security agents in Mashhad.
According to Jamia Ariyai news agency, today Wednesday 30th of Shahrivar 1401, Fatemeh Sepehri, a civil activist and former political prisoner, was arrested and taken to an unknown location after security agents raided her home after searching and confiscating some of her personal belongings. This civil activist was previously sentenced to prison due to his peaceful activities.
An informed source in this regard said: “Today, officers of Mashhad Intelligence Department raided Fateme Sepehari’s house, after searching the house and confiscating her mobile phones and some personal belongings, they arrested her, and moments ago, Fatemeh Sepehri’s brother were summoned to the Mashhad Intelligence Department.
It seems that this arrest is related to Fatemeh Sepehri’s interview with Iran International network, which took place after the death of Mehsa Amini.
It should be noted that Fatemeh Sepehari was released from Vakil Abad prison in Mashhad after serving a part of her total prison sentence on a case related to her peaceful protest activities.
This civil activist, on April 10, 2019, by Branch 35 of the Khorasan Razavi Court of Appeals, in the first part of his judicial case, was charged with (membership in anti-regime groups with the intention of disrupting the country’s security) for 32 months and campaigning against Nizam was also sentenced to 8 months of imprisonment.
On 13th of Bahman 1398, Fatemeh Sepehri was charged by Branch 4 of Mashhad Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Hadi Mansouri on the charges of (creating a faction or group to request the resignation of the leader of the Islamic Republic), (insulting the leadership) and (propaganda activity against the regime). He was tried and sentenced to a total of 6 years of imprisonment.
Also, the court hearing on the charges of Fatemeh Sepehari was held on 29th of January 2018, by Branch 4 of Mashhad Revolutionary Court, presided over by Judge Hadi Mansouri and with the presence of her defense lawyer, Mohammad Hossein Aghasi.
On August 20, 2018, Fatemeh Sepehari, along with 9 other civil activists, were arrested by security agents during a protest rally in support of Kamal Jafari in front of the Court of Appeal of Khorasan Razavi province and taken to the detention center of the city’s intelligence department. Mashhad was transferred and on December 24, 2018, after the completion of interrogation and investigation and completion of the indictment, the case of this civil activist and other defendants in this case was referred to the Revolutionary Court of Mashhad.
Suppressing citizens and filing accusations based on the scenario of security agencies violates Article 19 of the Universal Declaration and Article 19 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights approved on December 16, 1966.
The impossibility of access to a lawyer and the denial of access to other requirements in a judicial process violates Article 9 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and Article 9 of the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights approved on December 16, 1966.
According to Article 5 of the Criminal Procedure Law, it is emphasized on informing the accused as soon as possible about the alleged charges and providing the right of access to a lawyer and other defense rights mentioned in the law.
