The island of Lampedusa is part of the Italian territory and for some time it has witnessed the arrival of refugees from different parts of the world, especially African countries. Ansa news agency reported that a camp in the Imbriakula district was cleared of debris two weeks ago, but is now home to more than 2,000 refugees and migrants. It is said that this camp is intended to accommodate about 350 people.
Only on Tuesday night, three boats full of migrants have reached this island. It is said that they were citizens of Syria, Egypt, Sudan and some other African countries.
The island of Lampedusa is located 200 km from the island of Sicily and 150 km east of Tunisia. Two weeks ago, the officials of this island started to partially clean the camp, which was full of garbage. Recently, the naval forces of this country had transferred about one thousand people from this camp to the island of Sicily.
