Jamia Aryai News Agency – Leila Hosseinzadeh, a detained student trade union activist and former political prisoner, is suffering from an autoimmune disease along with the continuation of her detention, which has increased the concern of her family and relatives. Ms. Hosseinzadeh, who has been in custody since August 29, was previously recognized as “intolerance of punishment” due to this incurable disease and was released from prison.
According to the report of Jamia Aryaei news agency, quoted by Harana, today, Saturday, September 5, 1401, Leila Hosseinzadeh, a detained student trade union activist and former political prisoner, is still in custody and undecided.
Mrs. Hosseinzadeh’s suffering from an autoimmune disease, along with the continuation of her arrest, has increased the concern of the family and relatives of this trade union activist. A source close to her family said in this regard: “Lila was declared “intolerant of punishment” and released from prison in May 2019 due to an incurable disease. However, this is the second time that despite the recognition of his illness, he was arrested and beaten by the forces of the Ministry of Information. In addition, the stress caused by the arrest worsens his condition. Also, lack of access to necessary drugs or providing low-quality drugs with high side effects has been a history in his past arrests. All these things together only increase our concern about Laila’s health and condition.”
Arrest of Leila Hosseinzadeh along with beating
On Saturday, August 29, reports reported about the arrest and beating of Leila Hosseinzadeh by the security forces in the street and in front of her home. After some time, he was transferred from detention center 209 of Evin prison to the detention center of Shiraz Intelligence Department known as No. 100.
Earlier, Amir Raisian, the defense lawyer of Leila Hosseinzadeh, by publishing an article on his personal page, addressed the ambiguities regarding the reasons for the arrest of this citizen. He stated that after pursuing this issue through the Evin Prosecutor’s Office, the officials of the Prosecutor’s Office claimed that Ms. Hosseinzadeh was arrested “on the order of the Shiraz Prosecutor’s Office” and that the “recent actions” of this citizen were cited as the reasons for her arrest.
Mr. Raisian believes that regardless of the validity of these claims, the civil activities of his client, who lives in Tehran, have nothing to do with the jurisdiction of Shiraz, because the Revolutionary Court of Shiraz has already turned his client’s arrest order into a bail order.
Raisian also stated: “Before this, the forensic pathologist had definitively declared Leila Hosseinzadeh’s “intolerance of punishment”, last year the same theory was announced by the forensic pathologist, who was then waiting for the commission’s opinion. The arrest of Mrs. Hosseinzadeh was not legal, and if it was for the execution of the sentence, why was their house searched?”
Until the time of writing this report, no information has been obtained about the reasons for her arrest and the charges against her.
Mrs. Hosseinzadeh was previously sentenced to 5 years in prison and two years banned from working in cyberspace by Branch 28 of the Tehran Revolutionary Court headed by Judge Mohammad Reza Amozad for the charge of “Assembly and collusion with the intention of acting against the security of the country”. In December of this year, this conviction was confirmed by Branch 36 of the Court of Appeal of Tehran Province. Participating in the birthday ceremony of Mohammad Sharifi Moghadam, Dervish Gonabadi of Mogail Prison of Sharif University of Technology and singing the song “Khon Arghawanha” are among the examples of accusations against this former political prisoner.
On Saturday, January 18, 1400, he was summoned to the execution unit of the Evin courthouse for the execution of the prison sentence. The summoning of Mrs. Hosseinzadeh took place in the circumstances that she had been released from prison due to her previous case.
Leila Hosseinzadeh is one of the students of Tehran University who is active in the field of students’ union demands. He has a history of arrest and conviction before.
